QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible to serve on most committees or boards, you must qualify as a municipal elector. Specifically:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older;
  • You must reside in the municipality, or be an owner, tenant of land
    (or spouse of same);
  • You must not be prohibited from voting;
  • You must be a Canadian citizen.

In addition to the eligibility requirements noted above, the following committees or boards have specific membership criteria:

Kingston Economic Development Corporation Board (KEDCO):

Note: Qualifications under the Corporations Act require that directors of KEDCO:

  • You cannot be an undischarged bankrupt.

Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee:

  • Requirements of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act include that a majority of members shall be individuals with disabilities.

Kingston Frontenac Public Library Board:

  • You must be a resident of the City of Kingston, or the County of Frontenac; and
  • You may not be employed by the Library Board, or by the municipality or township.
