BIOGRAPHY
Dorothy Hector was first elected to Lakeside district on Nov. 13, 2006.
Born to a military family in Trenton, Ont., her family moved to Kingston in 1966. She received a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Royal Military College of Canada, graduating with the first class of Lady Cadets, and a Master of Science and Strategic Management from the University of Derby, England. She is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of New Brunswick.
Councillor Hector served with the Canadian Forces for 13 years, retiring in 1991. She has worked with CARE Canada, the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping in the former Yugoslavia, and managed the Red Cross refugee centre. She founded Worldwide Logistics Specialist Inc. in Kingston, and since 1999 has worked with the UN World Food Program.
In 2001 Councillor Hector received an honourary doctor of laws from RMC. She has a Canadian Decoration and the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal.
