BIOGRAPHY

Brian Reitzel was elected to represent Pittsburgh district on Oct. 25, 2010.

Though his paternal grandfather was from Wolfe Island, Reitzel was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario, and transferred to Kingston for his job in 1997. He settled in Greenwood Park in 1998 and raised three sons — Brad, Jeff, and Matthew — with Esther, his wife of more than 30 years. He is now a proud grandfather to Avery and Nolan and father-in-law to Tracy and Shannon.

In 2005, Reitzel retired after a 30 year career with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario, as District Manager for Kingston and Southeastern Ontario. His career took his family from Kitchener to Cochrane, Dryden, Sault Ste. Marie before Kingston. He now teaches part time at St. Lawrence College, a role he took on in 2001.

While working full-time, Reitzel completed a B.A. in Business Administration, and also became a certified Human Resource Trainer. During his time with the LCBO, he sat on number of provincial committees and was Chair of the Retail Budget Committee for five years and gained considerable experience working with community economic development commissions.

In 1997 Reitzel received the Premiere of Ontario Charity Fundraising Award for his work with the LCBO United Way Campaign and has volunteered with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for 25 years. In 2001, he chaired the "I support the Fort" Fundraising Campaign to raise much-needed funds for and national awareness of the plight faced by Historic Fort Henry, Kingston's World Heritage site.

Reitzel continues to be involved in community charity work as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11886 Kingston Mills.
