A new consolidated Official Plan for the City of Kingston has been approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The Plan, which came into effect
on January 27, replaces and consolidates the three previous Official Plans of the former City of Kingston, former Township of Kingston and the former Pittsburgh

Review The Parks & Recreation Master Plan

Residents are invited to review and offer their input on the latest draft of the Parks &
Recreation Master Plan. A public presentation and meeting on the draft Plan has been set
for 7 p.m., Jan. 13. The resulting Plan will guide the management of parks and recreation
services over the course of the next 15 years.

2009 First Capital Award Winners Honoured

Philanthropist James Brown of Brown's Fine Foods, who has championed causes including the
Boys and Girls Club, H'Art Studio and the St. Lawrence College Foundation, was honoured as
a First Capital Distinguished Citizen during the Canada Day civic ceremony, while
Julian Brown and Debra Lefebvre received Honourable Achievement Awards.

Kingston Ranked Third Best Place To Live

The May issue of MoneySense magazine has ranked Kingston as the third best place to live
in Canada, moving the city up a notch from last year. Kingston ranked just behind Victoria,
B.C. and Ottawa-Gatineau in the magazine's annual rankings of 154 cities in Canada with
populations of more than 100,000.

The City of Kingston is one of four communities receiving the 2008 Lieutenant Governor's
