BULLYING AWARENESS WEEK |

WHEREAS, one in five children and youth in the City of Kingston who have experienced, or now experience bullying; WHEREAS, Bullying is a relationship problem, it is wrongful and hurtful and occurs in many environments, including schools, the community, at home, and online; and, WHEREAS, Unhealthy relationships resulting from bullying not only affect children and youth: these behaviours continue when they become adults; and WHEREAS, Adults and communities share the responsibility for, and have the ability to, prevent bullying, and to promote healthy and safe relationships for children and youth. THEREFORE, I Harvey Rosen, Mayor of the City of Kingston, do hereby proclaim that, November 16th through November 22nd be declared "Bullying Awareness Week" in the City of Kingston and encourage all citizens to Stand UP! to stop bullying, and work together to make Kingston the safest community in Canada for our children and youth.
