PROCLAMATION

Epilepsy Awareness Month
March, 2010

Details:

WHEREAS March is the month during which Epilepsy Kingston & Area holds its annual Epilepsy Awareness & Education Campaign, the Tim Mavety Tribute, and Purple Day Campaign; and

WHEREAS through these events Epilepsy Kingston strives to increase awareness of epilepsy, a neurological disorder that affects over 300,000 Canadians; and

WHEREAS it is the mission of Epilepsy Kingston to improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy in our community; to provide support and advocacy services for those affected by epilepsy and to be a community resource for epilepsy education;

NOW THEREFORE City Council proclaims the month of March 2010 to be "Epilepsy Awareness Month" in the City of Kingston and does urge residents to support Epilepsy Kingston & Area in their efforts to raise awareness about epilepsy and dollars to support education, client support and advocacy for those individuals and families in Kingston & Area who live with epilepsy on a daily basis.
