Best Buddies Month
March, 2010

WHEREAS Best Buddies Canada is a national volunteer organization dedicated to creating friendships between student volunteers and individuals from the community with intellectual disabilities;

AND WHEREAS involvement in the Best Buddies program provides leadership opportunities and experience for student volunteers, and social interaction for individuals with intellectual disabilities;

AND WHEREAS Best Buddies is present in nearly 200 universities, colleges and high schools across Canada, including in Kingston, and is established in 42 nations around the world;

AND WHEREAS Best Buddies has worked with students from Kingston, and various community agencies, including students from Queen's University;

AND WHEREAS March is celebrated as Best Buddies Month by participants around the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Harvey Rosen, Mayor of the City of Kingston, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the month of March, 2010 as "BEST BUDDIES MONTH" in the City of Kingston.
