PROCLAMATION

LVIV UKRAINE FOLKLORE FESTIVAL 2010 WEEK
41ST Anniversary - June 11, 12 and 13, 2010

Folklore Week
June 7 to 13, 2010

Details:

WHEREAS the Ukrainian Canadian Club of Kingston is celebrating their 41st Anniversary of the presentation of the Lviv, Ukraine Folklore Festival, on the weekend of June 11, 12, and 13, 2010;

AND WHEREAS the Lviv, Ukraine Folklore Festival will be held at Regiopolis Notre Dame Catholic High School, 130 Russell Street;

AND WHEREAS Kingstonians and visitors alike, have returned to the Lviv, Ukraine Folklore Festival to enjoy traditional Ukrainian hospitality, folk arts, and cuisine;

AND WHEREAS the young women and men of the Maky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble have entertained and delighted audiences of all ages with their intricate dance steps and vibrant music, all performed in a variety of hand embroidered regional costumes that reflect the rich culture of Ukraine;

AND WHEREAS, in 2010-2011, the Ukrainian Canadian community of Kingston will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian settlement in Kingston;

NOW THEREFORE I HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of June 7 to 13, 2010, as Folklore Week in the City of Kingston, and I urge all citizens of Kingston and district to attend and join in the celebrations of not only the achievements of over one million Canadians of Ukrainian heritage but also the rebirth of Ukraine in Europe!
