Kingston Humane Society Month
May, 2010

Whereas The Kingston Humane Society is a non-profit registered charity dedicated to advocacy and care for animals in the City of Kingston and Frontenac County, providing humane education, emergency rescue and cruelty investigation, working to curb animal overpopulation and caring for the injured, abused and homeless animals in our community,

And whereas The Kingston Humane Society is an affiliate of the Ontario Society for the Protection of Animals,

And whereas The Kingston Humane Society has been serving the community's animals for 126 years, since 1884, and will continue to do so until every pet is wanted,

And whereas We recognize the important contributions animals make within our community, our homes and our lives,

And whereas May 2nd - 8th is "Be Kind to Animals Week" for communities across the province to fundraise and create awareness of animal care through local events,

THEREFORE I, Harvey Rosen, Mayor of the City of Kingston, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2010 as Kingston Humane Society Month and encourage everyone to support the Kingston Humane Society in its fundraising and awareness campaign.
