National Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Week
April 18-25, 2010

WHEREAS, The week of April 18th to 25th, 2010 has been declared National Organ and Tissue Awareness Week, across our Great Nation;

AND WHEREAS, There is a need across our nation and within our own communities for organ and tissue donations, to save lives;

AND WHEREAS, There is an increasing need to raise awareness within our communities of the shortage of life saving organ and tissue donations and the need to inspire our Citizens to think about organ and tissue donation;

AND WHEREAS, There are groups within our Communities, like the Ontario East Transplant Support Group (OETSG) a volunteer group, dedicated to the support of pre and post transplant patients and to inform the public of the need for organ and tissue donation;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT The City of Kingston join with other like-minded political jurisdictions in the Province of Ontario and declare the week of 18 to 25 April 2010 as our Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week.
