PROCLAMATION

Community Living Month
May, 2010

Details:

WHEREAS Community Living Kingston has provided supports and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families in the City of Kingston and surrounding district since 1953 and now provides services to over 500 people; and,

WHEREAS Community Living Kingston's goal is that people with intellectual disabilities have every opportunity to participate fully in our community with dignity and independence; and,

WHEREAS Community Living Kingston works with the City of Kingston, volunteers and other groups and organizations to build a community of inclusion, equality and respect that celebrates the contributions of all citizens; and,

WHEREAS Community Living Month is a province-wide initiative created to celebrate the philosophy and values of Community Living; and,

THEREFORE, I, Mayor Harvey Rosen, on behalf of the City of Kingston, proclaim May 2010 to be "Community Living Month" in the City of Kingston.
