PROCLAMATION

Safe Communities Canada Day
October 6, 2010

Details:

WHEREAS: Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community endorses the principle that engaging senior community leadership is fundamental to ensuring real change occurs in eliminating workplace injuries in our community.

WHEREAS: Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community accepts that effectively managing workplace health and safety and wellness is essential for our communities continued social welfare and economic success.

WHEREAS: Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community is dedicated to making Kingston the safest city in Canada to live, learn, work and play.

WHEREAS: Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community coordinates several safety focused activities in the community in order to reduce injuries with programming that targets youth, young workers, and small businesses.

WHEREAS: the Goal of the day is to bring the Safe Communities Canada, national safety initiative "Be Visible" to Kingston.

WHEREAS: "Be Visible" is an injury prevention approach stressing the need for high visibility as a way to support injury prevention strategies.

NOW THEREFORE: I, Harvey Rosen, Mayor of the City of Kingston, do hereby proclaim October 6th, 2010 as Safe Communities Canada Day, and encourage everyone to support Kingston: Partners for a Safe Community in making Kingston the safest city in Canada to live, learn, work and play.
