PROCLAMATION

Arthritis Awareness Month
September 2010

Details:

WHEREAS, The Arthritis Society is Canada's principal arthritis health charity dedicated to funding and promoting arthritis education, research-based solutions and community-based support; and

WHEREAS, Arthritis is a serious disease affecting 4.5 million Canadians with over 85,000 of those living in the Kingston area; and

WHEREAS, this disease affects people of all ages, of which, sixty percent are under the age of 65; and

WHEREAS, there continues to be an immense need to raise funds for sustained research in order to develop better methods of treatment, and ultimately find a cure for this debilitating disease;

THEREFORE, I, Harvey Rosen, Mayor of the City of Kingston, do hereby proclaim September 2010 as "Arthritis Awareness Month" in the City of Kingston.
