Military Family Awareness Week
February 6 - 11, 2012

WHEREAS "Military Family Awareness Week" highlights the role that Canadian Forces (CF) Families have in the military system, by providing strength behind the uniform. This week also provides a platform to introduce the community to the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC), a charitable organization whose sole purpose is to support military families.

The City of Kingston recognizes the importance of Military Families and the support they provide to CF members. Military Families may spend weeks and sometimes months apart from mothers, fathers, husbands and wives. Although difficult, these sacrifices are made willingly to help Canada perform its Military duties at home and abroad. Military Family Awareness Week pays tribute to the men, women and children of our Canadian Forces Members.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Mayor Mark Gerretsen, on behalf of Kingston City Council, do hereby proclaim February 6 to 11, 2012 as "Military Family Awareness Week" and encourage the Kingston Community to join in the events and activities to celebrate Military Families.
