Election Employment Opportunities

Are You Interested In Working For The 2010 Municipal Election?

The Election Office will be accepting applications for employment for Technical Deputy Returning Officers, Deputy Returning Officers, Revision Clerks, Information Clerks and Standbys, starting Monday, Aug. 23.

Eligibility

Election Officials must be a minimum of 18 years of age and may not be a candidate or the spouse, sibling, parent or child, or grandparent or grandchild of a candidate running in the 2010 municipal election.

Applications

Completed applications will be accepted IN PERSON ONLY. All applicants will be required to complete a written exam at the time of filing the completed application form. Please allow 45 minutes for the written exam.

No applications will be accepted prior to Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, or after 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9.

Positions

The following positions are available, at the following rates of pay:

  • Technical Deputy Returning Officer — $225 per day
  • Deputy Returning Officer — $150 per day
  • Revision Clerk — $150 per day
  • Information Clerk — $110 per day
  • Standby — $50 per day

Requirements

Election Officials are required for the following Voting Days:

  • Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and
  • Monday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Please note that the polls are open on the hours shown above, however, officials are required to pick up their voting day supplies on the day prior to the voting day, to arrive at the polls one hour prior to opening and to stay after the closing of the poll to attend to the required duties. Also, all Election officials are required to attend a one-half day mandatory instruction meeting (included in the rate of pay), which will be scheduled during the week of October 4, 2010.

Unsuccessful applicants will not receive further correspondence. Successful applicants will be contacted by telephone and notified in writing of their appointments.
