The City of Kingston has nearly completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to extend Innovation Drive from Discovery Avenue to Highway 15. The purpose of this EA is to confirm the preferred alternative and ensure that the construction of the proposed extension minimizes impacts on the natural and social/cultural environment while optimizing capital and operating investments. This project is being planned under Schedule B of the Municipal Class EA. Subject to comments received as a result of this Notice, and the receipt of necessary approvals, the City of Kingston may proceed with the design and construction of this project. The Environmental Screening Report, which contains a summary of pertinent information compiled during the EA is available online from the City of Kingston's website at www.cityofkingston.ca/innovationdrive or in person at:
Interested persons should provide written comment to the City of Kingston on the proposal within 30 calendar days from the date of this Notice. Comments should be directed to:
Sharon Fitch, Project Office Assistant, Real Estate and Construction Services If concerns arise regarding this project, which cannot be resolved in discussion with the City of Kingston, a person or party may request that the Minister of the Environment make an order for the project to comply with Part II of the Environmental Assessment Act (referred to as a Part II Order), which addresses individual environmental assessments. Requests must be received by the Minister at the address below within 30 calendar days of this Notice. A copy of the request must also be sent to the City of Kingston. If no request is received within 30 calendar days of this Notice, the City of Kingston may proceed with design and construction of the Innovation Drive Extension.
