2010 Mid Term Committee Appointments

APPLY BY March 16, 2010

Interested? Complete the Application for Appointment, available in the Clerk's Department at City Hall or at www.cityofkingston.ca/committees. Submit the application and brief summary of your interest and background to Diane Jackson, Records Clerk, By-Laws and Agreements City Hall, 216 Ontario St., Kingston, ON K7L 2Z3 or fax it to 613-546-5232. The Nominations Advisory Committee will make recommendations to Council in April 2010. It reserves the right to check references and verify information contained on these forms.

To be eligible to serve on a Committee, you must be:

  • a resident of the municipality, a non-resident owner or tenant of land in the municipality or the spouse of such non-resident owner or tenant;
  • a Canadian citizen;
  • at least 18 years old;
  • not legally prohibited from voting; and
  • not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.

COMMITTEE
All appointments shall be until November 30, 2010

MEMBERS REQUIRED

FOCUS Kingston Steering Committee: : is engaged in completing an Integrated Community Sustainability Plan aimed at fulfilling the vision of making Kingston Canada's most sustainable city. We want you if you have experience developing strategic plans for corporate or non-governmental organizations or a professional or academic interest in corporate social responsibility or community sustainability.

Meets: the third Thursday morning of every month at City Hall , 216 Ontario St.

Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee (MAAC): advises Council and staff on accessibility planning and related issues; reviews site plans and drawings and makes recommendations. We want you if you are interested in accessibility issues and have an understanding of the needs of persons living with a disability; possess an architectural background and/or the ability to read site plans and drawings or to read and interpret legislation would be an asset.

Note: The Ontarians with Disabilities Act requires that a majority of members be individuals with disabilities; please advise so as specific needs can be accommodated.

Meets: the first Thursday afternoon of every month at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, 53 Yonge St. (plus working group meetings).
