Sustainable Kingston To Hold Community Conversation

Details:

Second draft of Plan now available for input

FOCUS Kingston, Kingston's community strategic planning committee, will present the second draft of Sustainable Kingston at an upcoming public meeting Wednesday, March 10 at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (Press Lounge) 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The second draft of Sustainable Kingston includes more detail on:

  • Achieving community-ownership of the Plan.
  • Proposed governance. A Sustainable Kingston organization, governed by a Board of Directors, will be set up at an arms-length from the City of Kingston. The City will continue to participate in implementing the plan as a Community Partner.
  • Initial steps for implementation by Community Partners who will be asked to incorporate relevant Sustainable Kingston goals into their own organizational strategic plans.

Input on this draft of the Plan — collected at the meeting and at www.sustainablekingston.ca until March 24 — will be factored into its final draft to be completed later this spring.

Sustainable Kingston: Designing Our Community's Future... Together is the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan that will help guide Kingston toward its vision of becoming Canada's Most Sustainable City. Built with extensive community input, the Plan outlines goals to achieve the vision using a sustainability model with four pillars: Cultural Vitality, Economic Health, Environmental Responsibility, and Social Equity.
