Home Ownership Program

Home buyers: need down payment assistance?

Renters now considering purchasing a home in Kingston or the County of Frontenac could be eligible for Home Ownership down-payment assistance of up to 5 per cent of a home's purchase price to a maximum of $12,000 through the Home Ownership component of the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program (an AHP loan).

The City, a partner in this initiative, will be receiving and reviewing AHP loan applications until 4 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2010.

Are you eligible?

The full program eligibility rules and the application form can be found at www.cityofkingston.ca/homeownership. Here are a few criteria to consider:

  • Applicants must be renters and considering buying a sole and principal residence.
  • Applicants must have a gross household income at or below $70,900.
  • Homes must be in Kingston or the County of Frontenac and must cost $242,225 or less.
