Public Invited To Help Design Lake Ontario Park

Enviro Park And Art Park Concepts To Be Presented April 1

Kingston residents are being invited to help design Lake Ontario Park. Two concept designs for Lake Ontario Park will be presented for discussion at an upcoming public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wed., April 1, at Memorial Hall, City Hall, 216 Ontario St.

The two alternative designs - one outlining an Enviro Park scenario and the other an Art Park scenario - were developed by the consultant, Peter J. Smith & Co., based on input from stakeholders, focus groups, public consultations and staff advisory groups earlier this year.

"We could look at combining elements of the two designs but we want the public to help us with this," says Kristine Hebert, Parks & Open Space Planning Coordinator.

The concept designs will be posted for Your Opinion comment at www.cityofkingston.ca/lop/ on April 2. Comments from the public will be accepted until April 13.

This consultation is part of Phase II of the Lake Ontario Park Master Plan to revitalize the park. Phase 1 of the Master Planning process produced the Lake Ontario Park Revitalization Study (available at www.cityofkingston.ca/lop/) and was completed in 2007. It included the establishment of the overall vision for the park and accompanying planning principles.
