Woodworking Museum Starts 2010 Season March 31
Join us Wednesday, March 31, from noon to 4 p.m. at the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum to launch the 2010 season. Also open Saturday and Sunday of the Easter long weekend!
This year will have the same high-quality exhibits with some new educational programs, exciting events, and a couple of new faces. We welcome our acting curator for the summer, Jo-Anne Lachapelle-Beyak, who is very excited to be part of the MacLachlan team.
New in 2010 is the Voyageurs program for school tours. This entertaining and interactive program explores the changes in history through the eyes of an early Canadian settler. Listen to the Voyageur tell the story of wood as he travels down the river. This is sure to be a favourite of teachers and students!
In the summer months bring the whole family to the museum to take part in our drop-in programs. On Tuesdays at 10am create paper crafts in our Paper Play program. Thursdays at 10am engage in a variety of art techniques in Great to Create. There are also daily guided tours for families throughout the summer.
Located at the entrance of scenic Grass Creek Park, The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum features over 5000 feet of museum space, and showcases 1800s life and technology. People of all ages are able to try traditional woodworking tools in the Cabinetmaker's Workshop and browse through the galleries featuring displays of "Logging and Lumbering," "Canadian Planemakers" and an interactive "Kid's Exhibit."
Be sure to check out our gift shop to view and purchase works by local artists and artisans. These will include paintings, mirrors, decorative items and much more! In August the Museum will be hosting a one-day showcase and sale, From the Tree: Designs in Wood highlighting a variety of wood creations and woodworking techniques with on-site demonstrations by experts in the field.
Keep your eyes open later this summer for the launch of the new MacLachlan Woodworking Museum website.
