HHW Facility To Close For Season On Nov. 26

The Household Hazardous Waste facility will soon close for the season. Saturday, Nov. 14,
will be the final Saturday for the facility at 196 Lappan's Lane and Nov. 26 will be its
final Thursday of operation for this year. It will reopen on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

Cataraqui River Third Crossing Café Planned

Residents are invited to register to attend a Cataraqui Crossing Café set Saturday,
Nov. 28, at the LaSalle Secondary School Cafeteria. The Café will explore various
issues that may impact a potential Third Crossing of the Cataraqui River, including:
transportation needs, cultural heritage issues, ecological and archaeological issues, and
geotechnical/geo-environmental issues.

Kingston's Green Bin Program Is A Success

This is Waste Diversion Week, making it a great time for the City to congratulate its
residents on their use of the Green Bin, new to Kingston curbs this spring. Since Green
Bin collection started on April 6, more than 2 million kilograms (4.5 million pounds) of
organic waste has been diverted from landfill. The rate of contamination is less than 1
per cent.

Cleaner Water Flows From Ravensview

The City of Kingston's largest municipal capital project ever is now completed. Originally
constructed in 1957, the plant never once shut down during extensive upgrades. This state-of-the-art
facility makes Kingston a global leader in wastewater treatment and may also make Kingston
a leader in the re-use of this treated water for irrigation — a use that is
currently being researched.
