CREDIT CARD IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS

VISA and MasterCard cards: On the back of your credit card — on the signature panel — you will find a three-digit security code known as the CVV2 (Card Verification Value 2) or CVC2 (Card Validation Code 2).

American Express cards: the four-digit CVV number is printed on the front of the card above the card account number. It is printed flat, not embossed like the card number.

This number helps validate that a genuine card is being used during a transaction, and is required for online payments on the City of Kingston Web site.

Your CVV2 or CVC2 number may follow a 16-digit account number printed on the card's signature panel. On some cards, the 16-digit account number has been truncated to four digits to make it easier for cardholders to sign their cards.
