City of Kingston Arts Fund

The Kingston Arts Council is now accepting applications for the 2012 Operating and Project Grant Programs for the City of Kingston Arts Fund (CKAF). The Kingston Arts Council (KAC) will host two information sessions that all applicants are encouraged to attend.

  • The Operating Grants Information Session will take place Tuesday, March 13, 6:30 p.m. in the Delahaye Room, Kingston Frontenac Public Library — Central Branch, 130 Johnson St.
  • The Projects Grants Information Session will take place Thursday, March 15, 6:30 p.m. in the Delahaye Room, Kingston Frontenac Public Library — Central Branch, 130 Johnson St.

Changes to the CKAF program will be discussed at each Information Session and posted on the KAC website at www.artskingston.ca/ckaf.cfm.

Paper copies of the Grant Forms and Guidelines will be available at each meeting, are available at www.artskingston.ca/ckaf.cfm, and at:

Paper copies are available for pickup during office hours at the following locations:

  • The Kingston Arts Council, 253 Ontario St., Suite 203 — Office hours: Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.);
  • City Hall, 216 Ontario Street); and
  • The Kingston Frontenac Public Library, Central Branch, 130 Johnson St.

Completed Operating Grant Applications are due at the Kingston Arts Council Office on or before Friday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m.

Completed Project Grant Applications are due at the Kingston Arts Council Office on or before Monday, April 16, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.

Background

The City of Kingston Arts Fund initiated in 2007 and administered in partnership with the Kingston Arts Council (KAC), is intended to nurture the capacity and quality of Kingston arts organizations while fostering artistic excellence, stimulating economic development related to the arts, enhancing Kingston's quality of life for its citizens and attractiveness as a community, and aligning Kingston's arts funding with that of comparable cities around the province of Ontario.

Awarded annually, the City of Kingston Arts Fund is comprised of two categories: Operating Grants and Project Grants.

The Fund provides for approximately $130,000 in Project Grant funding per year, and approximately $300,000 in Operating Grant funding per year, to be awarded by the Kingston Arts Council. Applications, guidelines, upcoming information meeting details and Juror Nomination information is all available at the KAC's website.

The purposes of the City of Kingston Arts Fund include the following:

  • The provision of operating and/or project financial assistance to non-profit arts organizations and collectives within the Kingston arts community;
  • Support of excellence across a spectrum of artistic disciplines and levels of achievement;
  • Encouragement of public awareness, understanding and appreciation of the arts in the City of Kingston and beyond;
  • Increased access to quality local arts programming;
  • Encouragement of community involvement;
  • Encouragement of diversity;
  • Cultivation of existing strengths, talent and resources for the enhancement of the arts sector and the City as a whole.
