Historic Walking Tours

Taking one, or all, of these free walking tours (see links at right) is a great way to explore and celebrate Kingston's bounty of beautifully-preserved and historically significant 19th century properties.

All the tours follow routes within easy walking distance of City Hall at 216 Ontario St. and through the city's Old Sydenham Heritage area which may soon be designated a Heritage Conservation District under the Ontario Heritage Act.

The Earl Street, King Street, Wellington Street and John and Joseph Power walking tours were developed with the Kingston's Municipal Heritage Committee. The "In Sir John A.'s Footsteps" free walking tour, written by Sir John A. enthusiast and local journalist Arthur Milnes, comes with an audio accompaniment voiced by the Right Honourable Jean Chretien with an introduction by Speaker of the House Peter Milliken.

All these tours — including "In Sir John A.'s Footsteps" booklets and MP3 players pre-loaded with the audio accompaniment — are also available at Kingston's Tourist Office at 209 Ontario St.
