To Host A Pioneer Christmas Nov. 29

On Sunday, November 29, bring your family and friends to Pioneer Christmas, a charming and
festive event at the beautiful rural location of the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum. Try
your hand at trades of the past, and make your own traditional toy, candle and tree
ornaments at this fun-filled family event.

The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum has just released a new and exciting line-up of
affordable programs for the month of November to get all members of the family excited for
the holidays. You can celebrate through exploring the shapes of the winter season in the
Mom & Tot Program, spread cheer with homemade arts and crafts or have fun amongst your
friends and family at an exciting and traditional Pioneer Christmas event.

New Museum Exhibit Honours Its Founder

A new exhibit honouring Alexander 'Sandy' Grant MacLachlan, the founder of the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum, will open on September 2.
With the assistance of many friends and family, this new exhibit features artifacts and documents from Sandy's original museum collections,
photos from his life, and an interactive audio 'discussion board'

Timbers Of Tradition Exhibit Opens

The staff of the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum and the Museum Committee will show off the
new wood floor in the lobby and launch the Timbers of Tradition exhibit on Thursday, June
25. The lobby floor was constructed with samples of native species of wood donated by
members of the community. The result is a stunningly beautiful floor that is also a
slice of Eastern Ontario history and geography.

City Offers Children Interactive Learning

For the first time, the City of Kingston Cultural Services Department is offering a
comprehensive line-up of educational programming. The programming includes activities
offered by the Grand Theatre, Pump House Steam Museum, MacLachlan Woodworking Museum and
City Hall.

Exhibit Explores Heritage Of City's Windows

Kingston's heritage sash windows — those are the ones with the deep window sills —
are the subject of a new exhibit at the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum. The display offers
an in-depth look at glazing and carpentry. Carpentry buffs and owners of heritage homes
will be particularly interested in the exhibit's section on restoring sash windows.
