Court Dismisses Developer's Appeal
In Four-Year-Old Block D Lawsuit

A decision by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice has brought an end to a four-year-old lawsuit filed by Kingston 2000 Developments Ltd. against the City of
Kingston. The original lawsuit, filed in 2006, sought $47.5 million in damages against the City.

Princess & King Streets Work Begins March 1

The reconstruction of lower Princess Street and King Street and will begin March 1 and end
June 30. Shops will remain open and accessible in the reconstruction area. The City and
its contractors, Corcoran Excavating, will have public liaisons working with businesses
and the public throughout the project.

Workshops Focus On Urban Design Guidelines

Urban design guidelines for both low and medium density residential intensification and
new communities will be the focus of a couple of February 3 public open houses/workshops.
The two sets of guidelines are expected to be completed in June.

Ravensview Makes Kingston A Global Leader

The City of Kingston's largest municipal capital project ever is now completed. Originally
constructed in 1957, the plant never once shut down during extensive upgrades. This state-of-the-art
facility makes Kingston a global leader in wastewater treatment and may also make Kingston
a leader in the re-use of this treated water for irrigation — a use that is
currently being researched.

Shoreline & Pathway Improvements Planned

The City is developing designs to restore Kingston's shoreline and improve its waterfront
pathway from the foot of Simcoe Street to the vicinity of the West Street boat launch and
the back of 33 Ontario Street. A public information session on the plans is scheduled for
June 22.

Community Development Services has announced that the new City of Kingston Neighbourhood
Profiles are now available for the public to access and use. The Neighbourhood Profiles
were created to provide demographic information that can be used to assess the needs of
Kingston communities, improve planning and deliver services as effectively as possible.
