Urban Design Projects And Guidelines
Urban design involves the arrangement, appearance and functionality of cities, and in particular, the shaping and use of urban public space.
More specifically, urban design is about creating pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, vibrant public spaces, and safe and attractive neighbourhoods. Each new building contributes to the overall urban design of a city, and a city's streets, parks and public spaces are key shared assets that require special design attention.
The City is committed to a high standard of urban design. The City's Official Plan establishes design objectives, which are in turn implemented though more detailed urban design guidelines. The City may undertake urban design guidelines for specific types of development, for specific areas of the City, or for the entire City.
