Open-Air Burning Ban Terminated
As Conditions Have Improved
April 7 Update: The ban on open air burning, issued on March 21, 2012, has been terminated. The ban was put in place as the result of warm weather and winds which had resulted in extremely dry vegetation. Conditions have improved as vegetation has emerged from dormancy throughout the region.
Fire & Rescue's New Fire Training Tower
The new Fire Training Tower will soon be ready for practice runs at the City's new Fire & Rescue Training Centre on Terry Fox Drive. The City plans to build the Training Centre in stages to be completed in 2018. Future phases of construction for the cutting-edge learning centre include: exterior training areas with various props; a training building with classrooms; a warehouse and storage building; and an apparatus and equipment maintenance garage.
