The Kingston Firefighter's Combat Challenge Team competed at the Eastern Ontario Regional Firefit Championships in Ottawa on August 6 and 7. In the Team Relay event, our team placed first in the Eastern Region, but lost by fractions of a second to overall winners from Oakville. In the two-person NXG race Morgan Carey and Don Newton won gold in the "Mixed" category, while John Lawless and Michael Frasso won bronze in the "Open" category.

In the "Individual" category, Morgan Carey won a bronze medal, set a new personal best time of 3:36, and was the fastest woman in the Eastern Region receiving a bye to compete at the Canadian Nationals. Mike Koshowski placed third in the over-50 age category and was the regional winner setting a new personal best time. Two Combat Challenge rookies, Matt Preston and Brock Jamieson, got their feet wet competing for the first time in all the events.
