Kingston Firefighters Set Firefit World Record

Kingston firefighters Ralph Crouse and Jamie Neadow have set a new world record time for
the NXG two-person (Over 40) race at the Canadian National Firefit Championships. Crouse
and Neadow took home their third consecutive gold medal in the event by completing the
grueling obstacle course in 1:36.72. Kingston set a new team record, coming in 12th
overall at this weekend's national event in Gaspe, Quebec.

Smoke Alarms Required On Every Level
An amendment to the Ontario Fire Code requires homes to have working smoke alarms on every level in addition to the existing requirement to have alarms outside
all sleeping areas. This applies to all single-family, semi-detached and town homes, whether owner-occupied or rented.
