Memorial Centre Revitalization Project
The revitalization and rejuvenation of the entire 23 acre Memorial Centre is making this historic public midtown space much more functional and beautiful.
The Memorial Centre complex now features a fully accessible Linear Park around its
perimeter, decorative fencing, an off-leash dog park, a new play area for kids and the
new Outdoor Aquatic Centre.

Veterans' Memorial Garden
The new Veterans' Memorial Garden (see designs at right) re-affirms our city's gratitude to the men and women who have lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War and other military engagements.
The City is now compiling the list of names to appear on a Memorial Wall and is seeking the public's help to ensure the accuracy of the list. The current list is available for review on the Memorial Wall page.
The design (at right), agreed upon by the Veterans Memorial Garden & Cenotaph Sub-Committee, is intended to be a memorial within a garden commemorating sacrifice — a "sacred space" and a functional park for everyday use. Each concept includes places for reflection and ceremonial events, spaces for sculpture and commemorative features, connecting paths, sitting areas, areas for interactive education and connections to the playground.
Dog Park
Dog owners who use the fenced off-leash area will enjoy the new permanent shelter being erected to keep them dry and/or shaded while at the dog park. See the link at right for more information on the City's off-leash areas.
The Arena
The Memorial Centre Arena ice is now the home of the Church Athletic League (previously housed at the now repurposed Harold Harvey Arena). Additions are being made to this building to accommodate change rooms and washrooms for the new Waterpark.
