Memorial Centre Revitalization Project
The City of Kingston is working to prepare a development concept plan and multi-year implementation strategy for the revitalization and rejuvenation of the entire 23-acre Memorial Centre site as a public community recreational facility or facilities that will also serve as a fitting living memorial to the men and women of Kingston who lost their lives during the two World Wars, the Korean War and other military engagements.
The Linear Park at the Memorial Centre opened May 31, 2010.

MEMORIAL GARDEN
The design (at right) agreed upon by the Veterans Memorial Garden & Cenotaph Sub-Committee is intended to be a memorial within a garden commemorating sacrifice — a "sacred space" and a functional park for everyday use. Each concept includes places for reflection and ceremonial events, spaces for sculpture and commemorative features, connecting paths, sitting areas, areas for interactive education and connections to the playground.
Staff, the Memorial Centre Revitalization Advisory Committee and consultants sought extensive community input for preparation of the plans for the site.
