CITY OF LONDON'S NEW ARENA HAS AN OLD FACE

London's John Labatt Centre is a multi-purpose arena focusing on both entertainment and sports and incorporating elements of both 19th- and 21st-Century design.

Opened Oct. 11, 2002, in downtown London and the home of the London Knights Junior A hockey team, the Centre is one of the catalysts in the redevelopment of the city's downtown core.

The facility seats 9,000 for hockey and ice events and over 10,000 for concerts, family shows and other events. The Centre has 1,000 premium club seats, 38 private luxury suites and 5 group sales suites.

The building's features include:

  • Its exterior design incorporates a replica of the facade of the old Talbot Inn - a 19th-Century inn - with that of a modern entertainment and sports facility.
  • In addition to having the ability to accommodate both end- and centre-stage productions, the facility has been designed to accommodate touring Broadway shows. The theatre setting has the ability to seat 2,800 people.
  • Its design reflects many of the features found in larger facilities.
  • Its builders say the facility was designed to exceed the Ontario Building Code requirements for accessibility and offers accessible seating on every level.
