Great Waterfront Trail Adventure Tour |

Two hundred and forty cyclists are gearing up for the second annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure Tour, a 720 km supported end-to-end cycling tour of the Ontario waterfront and greenways, passing through 41 Ontario communities in eight days, starting Saturday, July 4. Cyclists will travel from Niagara-on-the-Lake in the west to the Rivière Beaudette, Quebec in the east, in a supported tour that will stretch along the shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, using the Waterfront Trail and Greenway. Overnight stops in Kingston:

The public is invited to the Pump House Steam Museum's 160th anniversary celebrations to help officially launch the "In Sir John A.'s Footsteps" walking tour. The walk will be launched at 4 p.m. at 23 Ontario Street and participants will then walk the tour together. The Pump House Steam Museum's 160th anniversary celebrations is a free event for the whole family, including children's activities by The Rocking Horse, guided tours of the museum, live music by the Frontenac County Community Band, horse and carriage rides from Springer Market Square to the Museum and historic interpreters from the Historic Costume Club of Kingston. The Bellevue House will offer tea, and strawberries provided by Fruition Farms, cake and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Hosted by the City of Kingston, this exciting event will bring over 150 firefighters from across Ontario and Western Quebec to our great City. This event is a competition where firefighters perform a set of tasks that simulate duties often required at an emergency scene demonstrating the dedication and physical fitness of today's firefighters. Jingle Bell Walk |

Jingle all the way from Springer Market Square to light up City Park on the Jingle Bell Walk event. It begins with free skate accompanied by the Open Voices Choir at 6 p.m. at Springer Market Square - then walkers can grab a hot chocolate for the 10 minute Jingle Bell Walk to City Park to meet the Parr Christie Singers and turn on the festive (and energy-saving LED) lights on 45 trees. Get a free Jingle Bell necklace for your walk by bringing a non-perishable food item a or cash donation for the Partners in Mission Food Bank. |

New Year's Eve at the K-Rock Centre |

Bring your family down to join the City's New Year Eve indoor and outdoor festivities at the K-Rock Centre this year. Celebrations run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. — ending with a fireworks display at nearby Confederation Basin at 9:15 p.m. — and it's all still FREE! Dress for the occasion to enjoy the wagon rides, hot chocolate, buskers, and the fireworks outside — then come inside to warm up. Half the ice surface will be available for skating and the other half will be devoted to live entertainment from Faultline Drive, Roger James, Tea for the Voyage, Swayed and Splash n'Boots. Plus face painting and more. |
