Augusta Common Park

At a public meeting in July, 2010, two concept plans for the park were presented by the City of Kingston Parks Development Division (available at right).

The preference, indicated by the public at the meeting and through a Your Opinion comment opportunity, was for Option B with some minor modifications.

Option B highlights:

  • Central active play area including play equipment, small spray pad and shade shelter.
  • Open play area for free play and 'pick up' sports.
  • Pathways linking neighbourhoods to the north, south east and west.
  • Shade tree plantings surrounding the 'Great Lawn'.
  • Benches/trash receptacles around the site at key viewing and activity nodes.
  • Pedestrian lighting along the main east west pathway.
  • Berms and buffer plantings to screen adjacent properties.

This park will be included in the budget for 2012 construction and a 2013 completion date. This is subject to Council approval.
