Breakwater Park

Thursday, Feb. 16, come out to the public presentation "Make a People Place" by 8-80 Cities Gil Penalosa. Memorial Hall, 2nd floor, City Hall at 7 p.m.

8-80 Cities, an urban non-profit organization partnered with the Ministry of Health Promotions, has selected the City of Kingston to help make Breakwater Park a great public place for everyone in the community from 8 to 80 years old. The City partnered with KFL&A Public Health in submitting application-for 8-80 Cities "Make a Place for People" project and were notified on December 17, 2011, that the City of Kingston was one of six municipalities out of thirty four (34) applications that was selected as part of the "Make a Place for People" project.

This project award brings Gil Penalosa and his 8-80 Cities team to work with the City, the Health Unit and the community on a public visioning for Breakwater Park. The project will ensure that the broader community will be part of the vision and design for this key waterfront park. The City will be hosting its own community consultation process to design Breakwater Park in 2012 and then implement- enhancements in 2013.
