Adapted Programs
The City of Kingston welcomes and encourages all residents to participate in its recreation programs. Every effort will be made for the child or adult to participate in an integrated program or targeted service. Support persons accompanying participants are admitted to program or facility at no cost.
Leisure Connections Program
Designed for adults with developmental challenges. Leisure Connections is a year-round social/leisure recreation program for independent or one-to-one supported adults.
The program consists of weekly coordinated recreation activities, events and excursions to locally operated facilities. Activities include bowling, gym nights, swims, game nights, movies, theme dances and sporting events.
Requirements: Participants are responsible for their own self-care needs (transportation, medication, toileting and feeding). Those who are not independent in all self-care skills must provide their own one-to-one support person to meet their needs.
Cost: $5.50/month. Participants are responsible for pay-as-you-go admissions or participation costs.
Location: Artillery Park Aquatic & Fitness Centre, 76 Ordnance St. and various locations depending on activity.

E.P.I.K. Ride - Extraordinary People in Kingston Ride
Age: 12 yrs and up
E.P.I.K. Ride is a Cycle-Fit class that provides individuals with developmental disabilities and their support people or family members with an opportunity to participate in and experience an exhilarating cycle-fit class on a stationary bike. The instructor will provide an engaging ride through visualization cues to expand imaginations and hold attention.
Note: Participants must be a minimum of 4'11". Please indicate if a support person will be attending and/or participating
Location: INVISTA Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd.

PRO Abilities - Adapted Aquatic Lessons
Age: 3 - 17 yrs
These swim classes are designed to meet the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. The classes will help to improve overall wellness in an enjoyable and fun environment. The one-on-one instruction will help to tailor the classes based on each individuals needs. Participants learn survival techniques and gain a new level of comfort in the water.
Note: Provide relevant documentation regarding each special need/disability. This will ensure that each individual is accommodated and assist instructors in planning lessons. This course is not available for on-line registration due to additional documentation required.

Hearts in Action Cardiac Rehab Support
Cardiac patients can continue their post-cardiac rehabilitation programs in a safe, reliable and comfortable environment. Certified Personal Trainers supervise participants as they work through individual programs in a group setting up to five days a week.
