Aquatic Leadership Courses
100% attendance is mandatory, must provide proof of prerequisites.
BRONZE MEDALLION
The Lifesaving Society's Bronze Medallion Award teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education — judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defence and release methods in preparation for rescues of conscious and unconscious victims. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim.
Age: must be age 13 or older, or a Bronze Star recipient.*
Required: *Bronze Star (only required by participants under age 13), proof-of-age, and Emergency First Aid with CPR-B (provide copies of proof of requirements at registration). A Canadian Lifesaving Manual ($53.50), if needed, must be purchased at Artillery Park prior to first class. Proof-of-age is also required on the first day of class.
BRONZE CROSS
Designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification.
Required: Bronze Medallion, Standard First Aid with CPR-C before registering (provide copies of proof of requirements at registration). A Canadian Lifesaving Manual ($53.50), if needed, must be purchased at Artillery Park prior to first class.
CPR And First Aid Training
First aid training enables you to deal with injuries and medical emergencies at home, work or play.
EMERGENCY FIRST AID
For people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Includes CPR-B certification which teaches parents, grandparents, babysitters, or child care workers the CPR and choking procedures for adults and children. Recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
Required: Lifesaving Manual ($15 + GST)
STANDARD FIRST AID
Provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Includes CPR-C certification which covers all aspects of CPR skills and theory for adult, child and infants. Recognized by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
