Accessible Parking changes: construction and/or planned events occassionally require changes to accessible parking spaces. Find suggested alternative spaces on the Accessible Parking page.


Customer Service Accessibility Report: The City is required to issue yearly reports on Customer Service Accessibility under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The 2010 Report is available for download at right. Fresh set-up of Market maintains clear pathways: Portable bistro tables, chairs and green umbrellas are being added to Springer Market Square. The Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee was consulted on the choice of furniture and made recommendations regarding the positioning of vendors to maintain clear pathways for wheelchairs and scooters, especially around the access ramp in the Square's North Courtyard (off Brock Street), which leads down to the public restrooms and lockers (bring your own lock).  MORE ...

Removing Barriers

The City of Kingston is a community that recognizes that people are our most valuable asset. We create opportunities for all people to enjoy our city and contribute as productive citizens. We will work to prevent and remove barriers for persons with disabilities on City properties and services. We will also create public awareness and educate both the public and private sectors regarding the requirements of the ODA, the Ontario Building Code, and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

The creation of an Accessibility section on the City of Kingston Web site begins to address one of the recommendations made in the City of Kingston's 2003 Accessibility Plan.
