The 2012 Accessibility Plan

The City's Draft 2012 Accessibility Plan and proposed Strategic Actions outlines the City's initiatives to make Kingston more accessible to all its residents. It is available for review at right and was the subject of a Your Opinion comment opportunity that ended on November 18.

Accessible Parking Changes

Construction and/or planned events occassionally require changes to accessible parking spaces. Find suggested alternative spaces on the Accessible Parking page.

Customer Service Accessibility Report

The City is required to issue yearly reports on Customer Service Accessibility under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. The 2010 Report is available for download at right. Should you require this information in a different format, please contact Janet Jaynes, Executive Assistant, Sustainability & Growth, at 613-546-4291, ext. 1152 or jjaynes@cityofkingston.ca.

Removing Barriers

The City of Kingston is a community that recognizes that people are our most valuable asset. We create opportunities for all people to enjoy our city and contribute as productive citizens. We will work to prevent and remove barriers for persons with disabilities on City properties and services. We will also create public awareness and educate both the public and private sectors regarding the requirements of the ODA, the Ontario Building Code, and the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Welcome to the City of Kingston's accessibility-planning Web pages — one of many initiatives to remove barriers in our community and promote the full and accessible participation of all.

The creation of an Accessibility section on the City of Kingston Web site begins to address one of the recommendations made in the City of Kingston's 2003 Accessibility Plan.

As plans develop in this area, information will be provided here on ongoing accessibility efforts. Any questions about these pages can be directed to:
