Oakwood Preschool, located at 33 Compton Street, is owned and directly operated by the Corporation of the City of Kingston and provides licensed child care for infants, up to children six years of age. Full-time, part-time, before and after school care is available, as well as alternate day Kindergarten care.
The goal of the child care program is to provide a safe and healthy environment for each child. The program meets the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of the developing child. Oakwood provides two snacks and a well balanced lunch each day.
OAKWOOD FACTS
- Oakwood is licensed by the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services and has the capacity for 45 children.
- A Before and After school program is also available.
- The Centre is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- Oakwood will accommodate flexible scheduling within the given hours. Parents can ask for custom schedules (such as three half-days per week, or two full days).
- We provide two snacks a day and a lunch, with a full-time cook on staff.
- The menus are Health Unit approved.
- Oakwood provides children with a full range of planned activities.
- Activities are designed to stimulate your child's cognitive skills as well as large and small motor development. The benefits of learning through group activities instil an appreciation for sharing, understanding, patience and cooperation.
- Subsidized childcare spaces are available at Oakwood.
