Repairs At Downtown Garages
To Begin With Robert Bruce Lot

The City will begin to rehabilitate the Robert Bruce Memorial Parking lot next week. The
Bruce lot, the first of three downtown parking garages scheduled for repair this season,
will be closed during construction to repair and upgrade both its levels. Parking at the
Chown and Hanson Parking Garages will also be affected over the course of the 2010
construction season.

2009 Toys For Tickets Record Number Of Toys

This year's Toys for Tickets program has collected more toys than ever — 380 of them representing $5,090 in parking fines.
Kingston motorists took advantage of this year's two-day extension to pay for their parking tickets with toys.
The toys, now under the tree at City Hall's Payment Centre, will be delivered to the CHUM toy drive.

$1 Transit, Cheaper Parking At K-Rock Centre

As of today, those heading to the K-Rock Centre can enjoy more post-event $1 buses and
cheaper, closer parking. By Council mandate, the event parking rates will drop on Sept. 1
and a number of other minor changes to the K Rock Centre Transportation Plan will also
take effect to make getting to and from the Centre more convenient than ever.

On-Street Permit Parking In Sydenham District
City Council has approved a pilot project for residential on-street permit parking in
Sydenham District in the area bounded by King, West, Clergy and William Streets.
The pilot program has been extended to August 31, 2010.

Parking, Traffic, Transit Strategies Reviewed
The City of Kingston, in conjunction with Queens University, KGH, Hotel Dieu, and the
Downtown BIA, have conducted a comprehensive review of traffic, parking and transit
conditions in the area south of Concession Street and east of Sir John A. Macdonald
Boulevard., resulting in a short- and long-term plan of action that deals with these needs
over the next 15 years. Growing parking needs in the Queen's University/Kingston General
Hospital area, at Hotel Dieu and in the Downtown resulting from growth and development
that remove existing parking supply need to be addressed.
