Parking Tickets

Upon receiving a parking ticket, you have the following options:

  1. Pay your fine voluntarily:
    • Online
    • By phone: 613-546-0000
    • By TTY (Teletypewriter service): Dial 711 or 1-800-855-0511
    • By mail: City of Kingston, 216 Ontario St., Kingston, ON K7L 2Z3
    • In person: City Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except civic holidays. (In addition, a drop box is located outside of City Hall on Market Street)
  2. Have your parking infraction reviewed. Inquiries may be made:
    • By phone: 613-546-0000 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday

  3. Trial Option:
    You or your agent must attend in person at City Hall during regular business hours to complete a Notice of Intention to Appear in court.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T PAY YOUR PARKING FINES?

A failure to pay parking fines may result in:

  1. An increase in fine costs;
  2. Denial of your vehicle license plate renewal by the Ministry of Transportation;
  3. Application of Scofflaw — towing/removal of vehicles with excessive unpaid fines.

THE LIFE OF A PARKING TICKET

Parking tickets don't disappear. Do you know that a $10 early payment for parking at a time expired meter can quickly grow to become very expensive? For example:

At 120 days, fines are eligible to be sent to the Ministry of Transportation for collection. Failure to pay fines will result in denial of your licence plate renewal.
