In an effort to address the ongoing parking challenges in the city core, the City of Kingston has been actively working with Queen's University, Kingston General Hospital and the Downtown Kingston! Business Improvement Area, to implement new parking initiatives.

FIRST HOUR FREE PARKING

The City offers a First Hour Free parking incentive program in the attended lots, while the attendant is on duty. (Monday to Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 9:30 p.m., and Saturday, 11:45 a.m. - 6:15 p.m.)

COURTESY TICKETS

The City has implemented a program to extend a 10-minute grace period at selected expired meters for parkers. A special tourist-oriented program has been implemented during the summer months for out-of-province visitors. Courtesy tickets do not replace the cost of receiving a fine.

QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY SHUTTLE SERVICE

Queen's Parking Services offers a free parking and shuttle service between West Campus and Main Campus. This initiative is designed to alleviate some of the current excess parking demand around the university and hospital. Free parking is available in the gravel lots at West Campus. For more information, contact Queen's Parking Services, 533-6979.
