Motorcycle and Scooter Parking

Those riding motorcycles and scooters downtown are rewarded for choosing smaller vehicles by having more spaces to park:

  • Under the Parking Bylaw, up to three motorcycles or scooters may park in one metered space — or, in Pay and Display zones, in the equivalent of one metered space (measured as 20 feet of curb space) for the price of one.
  • The Drury Parking lot at Queen and King Streets has five spaces designated for use by compact vehicles — three for compact cars and two for subcompact cars or motorcycles.

Motorcycles and scooter drivers must pay for parking and are not permitted to park these vehicles on sidewalks, boulevards or in no parking zones.

PAY & DISPLAY RECEIPT RECOMMENDATION

When purchasing a Pay & Display receipt to park a motorcycle or scooter in a metered zone, it is recommended that you tear the receipt along the perforation, keep half of the receipt with you so you have proof of payment and display the other half of the receipt — the left side which indicates the expiry time — by affixing it to the motorcycle or scooter in a conspicuous manner.

In the event that the displayed portion of the receipt is stolen or goes missing, and a parking ticket is issued to the vehicle for failure to pay the meter, the retained portion can be presented as evidence of payment.
