Kingston Transit: My Ride

Rider Rules And Guidelines

Take pride in your ride: Ride kind. Ride safe.

Please observe the following rules when riding Kingston Transit:

  1. Riders using mobility aids have priority use of the courtesy seating area. All other passengers must vacate this area if it is required.
  2. Strollers, bundle buggies and other bulky items must not obstruct aisles. It is the caregiver's responsibility to secure the child and stroller.
  3. Stand behind the yellow line so the operator has a clear view of the doorway and mirrors.
  4. For your safety, do not walk in front of the bus; wait until it leaves. Operators are not permitted to open doors or allow passengers to board away from bus stops. Do not attempt to stop a bus after it has pulled into traffic.
  5. Transfers are issued only at the time fare is paid.
  6. Only service animals accompanying passengers living with disabilities are allowed on board.

Be a kind rider

It's cool to be kind. Follow these guidelines for rider etiquette to make everyone's ride a smooth one:

  • Have your fare ready before boarding the bus.
  • Please allow passengers living with disabilities and seniors to board the bus first.
  • If you require a connection to another route, please advise the operator when boarding the bus.
  • The courtesy seating area is intended for those riders that need it the most. Please refer to the Courtesy Seating Policy.
  • Please be prepared to move to a new seat if another rider could benefit from sitting in this area.
  • For your own comfort and safety, please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
  • Please respect others. Do not use profane or discriminatory language while on the bus.
  • Scented products can aggravate allergies. Please avoid using them.
