Utilities Kingston
Utilities Kingston, wholly owned by the City of Kingston, provides water, sewer, gas and electricity services all under one roof.
Utilities Kingston is responsible for supplying, distributing and metering electricity and natural gas in the City Central. Utilities Kingston is also responsible for supplying, distributing and metering water and for collecting, pumping and treating sewage for the entire City of Kingston.
DRINKING WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM FINANCIAL PLAN
Ontario regulation 453/07 made under the Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002 requires the Corporation of the City of Kingston, as the owner of the City of Kingston's drinking water system, to complete a Financial Plan for their drinking water system.
The City's Financial Plan was developed to achieve financial stability, to ensure safe drinking water, while enabling long-term infrastructure renewal. It has been prepared on a full cost-recovery basis, which means the complete cost of service has been considered and included in the plan. This includes general and administrative, billing, collecting, treatment and distribution costs have been included. In addition, short-term and long-term interest charges and amortization expenses have been projected.
Kingston City Council approved the Corporation of the City of Kingston's Drinking Water Supply System Financial Plan on June 15, 2010.

BROADBAND NETWORK
Utilities Kingston is also expanding a broadband community network. Over the past three years, it has installed some 250 kilometres of fibre-optic cable and blanketed the city with high-speed wireless connectivity.
