Large Article Disposal

The City of Kingston no longer provides a free large article drop off program.

Residents can take large and bulky articles and excess garbage to the Kingston East Landfill. The disposal fees are $110 per tonne, per month. The minimum fee is $15 per month (residents invoiced at month end). These items can also be taken to a private transfer station or picked up by private haulers. For waste removal services, please check the Yellow Pages under Waste Management or Rubbish Removal. Residents are responsible for all disposal charges.

Large articles, garbage and construction material may be dropped off at a number of other waste disposal facilities in the Kingston area. Please refer to the Yellow Pages in your telephone directory under Rubbish Removal and/or Waste Management. Residents are responsible for all disposal charges.

Building material that can be reused may be brought to Enviroworks, a non-profit used building materials store owned by the Limestone District School Board and operated by students. Please call 613-531-0542 for a list of acceptable items.

Old clothes, furniture, bicycles and appliances may be taken to, or in some instances, picked up by some non-profit agencies. Please refer to our alternatives page.

Before throwing out unwanted items, have a garage sale or have them fixed. Most appliances and electronics can be re-conditioned or repaired. Buy used products from both non-profit and commercial establishments that promote the reuse ethic.
