Remarkable Recyclers
West-end residents Alison and Mike Darrach are this season's most Remarkable Recyclers. An audit of the Darrach's curbside waste showed a 95% diversion rate and 100% recycling capture rate. That means that every bit of household waste that was recyclable was recycled — and that only 5% (measured by weight) of what was collected at curbside was truly garbage.
What's remarkable? Diverting more than 75% from landfill.
