Marinas Sustainability Plan

In the summer of 2008, the City has asked marina users and the public to offer their suggestions for improvements and new amenities to the Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour marinas as it developed its Kingston Marinas Sustainability and Development Strategy and Business Plan with the assistance of consultants from the Tourism Company and Totten Sims Hubicki & Associates (TSH).

At right, find the resulting Kingston Marinas Sustainability and Development Strategy & Business Plan Final Report [PDF: 3.7MB] passed by Council in March of 2009. The City Marinas continues to move forward with the recommendations as the budgets associated with the initiatives are approved. Boaters are already enjoying a number of these upgrades outlined in the report:

  • More slips added to both Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
  • Expanded facilities at Confederation Basin.
  • Upgraded and expanded services made available at Confederation Basin to solidify its position as a premiere Lake Ontario and Thousand Island Marina.
  • Enhanced facilities at Portsmouth Olympic Harbor to solidify its position as a world caliber sailing event venue.
  • Enhanced access to Kingston's waterfront for non-boater residents and visitors.
