Marinas Sustainability Plan

Last summer, the City has asked marina users and the public to offer their suggestions for improvements and new amenities to the Flora MacDonald Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour marinas as it developed its Kingston Marinas Sustainability and Development Strategy and Business Plan with the assistance of consultants from the Tourism Company and Totten Sims Hubicki & Associates (TSH).

At right, find the resulting Kingston Marinas Sustainability and Development Strategy & Business Plan Final Report [PDF: 2.1MB] passed by Council this March. The City Marinas will move forward with the recommendations as the budgets associated with the initiatives are approved. Over the coming years, boaters can expect to see:

  • More slips added to both Confederation Basin and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.
  • Expanded facilities at Confederation Basin.
  • Upgraded and expanded services made available at Confederation Basin to solidify its position as a premiere Lake Ontario and Thousand Island Marina.
  • Enhanced facilities at Portsmouth Olympic Harbor to solidify its position as a world caliber sailing event venue.
  • Enhanced access to Kingston's waterfront for non-boater residents and visitors.
